Be sure to check out the research and presentations that Modern Canna has participated in relating to heavy metals in cannabis and hemp material and packaging.
Plant Uptake of Arsenic, Cadmium, and Lead by Hemp, Mustard, and Kale Grown in Coconut Coir Substrate

Recent research shows that arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd) pose a greater contamination risk to medicinal hemp than lead (Pb), especially when grown in substrates like coconut coir. Hemp tissue exceeded typical regulatory thresholds for As and Cd at relatively low substrate concentrations, while Pb remained less bioavailable.
Heavy Metals Leachability in Cannabis Packaging Materials
The leachability of heavy metals from cannabis packaging materials must be evaluated to ensure consumer safety. In this presentation, Modern Canna's CSO, Jini, shares data that shows the dangers associated with purchasing low quality packaging materials.
